Site Management Information
The first version of this site was created and made available in November 2002. Since that time many records have been added and the site construct changed.
After a major cross checking exercise of the Gathergood Family Genealogy files that support this site a design and reconstruction has been performed to deliver Version 2 of the site.
The most difficult thing in Version 1 was finding a particular person within the various family lines and groups recorded. To overcome this problem a Master Index of all persons who appear in the site has been constructed. An Index entry now contains a pointer to a Region and Area where that particular person will be found. A Region may be a part of Norfolk, London, another country or a group of counties in the UK. An Area is a location within a Region. These Areas tend to be based on places where a family line or lines presently start. (By start it means where the first recorded person in the history of that line resides.) For example Norfolk which has many Gathergood families has been subdivided into 4 Regions and within each of those Regions a number of Areas Exist.
